I have two Lexar 2000x 300MB/s READ cards. This doesn't mean a SD card that doesn't have the V60 rating on it won't work but the card has to be able to record at 60MB/s to be compatible with the GH5 in the All-I format.Ie, $100 and you can record straight to SSD, rather than $500+ to buy a recorder to mount the $100 drive in. It dramatically cuts down on the buy in for external recording, since you no longer need the recorder or an SDI output and capture card for a computer.GH5 4K 30fps internal recording requires 400 Mbps (megabits/sec) or 50MBps to shoot 10bit optimally, as explained earlier GH5 4K 60fps external recording (to Ninja Inferno) requires 800 Mbps (megabits/sec) or 100MBps As you can see the data rate required from 30p to 60p is basically double.
If you do get an Atomos, it will not support your SSD, as it's designed to work with an internal 2.5 SSD, not one like yours that comes in an enclosure. You cannot record direct to an SSD on the GH5, especially over HDMI You need an external HDMI recorder, your best option being the Atomos Ninja V.So I asked myself if there's an option to make the GH5 write to my SSD? I dont want to buy an external recorder for this, because that would be more expensive than V90 cards Record straight to SSD instead of SD card? Close.A 7,200 rpm drive should be able to sustain about 110 MB/s so you should get real-time copying utes of 4K footage A 1TB SSD drive will hold about 3 hours This data rate will be hard on your computers, so you'll need fast drives for on-set copying and duplication.Home GH5 record to SSD External Recording and Data Wrangling Solutions for the
